DESCRIPTION
On March 27, 1958, France passed the Breton Stripe Shirt Act, which made blue and white striped knitted shirts part of the French sailor's uniform. It is believed that striped t-shirts help to find sailors who fall off the boat. The classic Bretton blue and white stripes symbolize the sailor, and the collar is also a prominent symbol of the French sailor's shirt. The collar's wonderful use is that it can quickly take off clothes after falling into the water and won't jam the neck. Later, the Striped T-Shirt became the standard for the French Navy and fishing fleet, and other navies worldwide. It became fashionable a century later.

I purchased the black stripe and the the navy stripe, they are subtly different. The material is heavy and does shrink to the size you ordered after the first wash in warm water. They have good legnth and are just terrific. The neck is more round than boat but is a pleasant shape. If they had a red stripe I'd buy that too.
This is a beautiful shirt of very high quality. I like it so much I ordered another in a different color! It does run small. I ordered a 2X based on the size chart even though I wear an XL usually it fits great! By comparison I ordered an XL striped t-shirt also from beotyshow, and it fits the same as this shirt in 2X. Would order again!
